Code and data for place hierarchies
The code and data are related to the paper Combining hierarchies for spatial reasoning of hierarchical relations among places in different contexts. <br>Abstract: Spatial reasoning of hierarchical relations is an important research topic in geographic information science. Existing literature focuses mainly on hierarchical relations according to ordered containment of point sets based on the 9-Intersection Model (9IM). However, in natural language descriptions, hierarchical relations expressed by prepositions such as <i>in</i> can have spatial configurations conflicting with those hierarchical relations based on 9IM. This paper proposes an algorithm employing combined hierarchies to infer hierarchical relations among places in different contexts. Two graph databases containing combined hierarchies conforming to administrative reach and geometric enclosure are established with places represented by polygons with misaligned boundaries on prototypical and real data. The 13170 pairs of conflicting hierarchical relations with same start nodes but different end nodes detected in the combined hierarchies on real data validate the proposed algorithm for spatial reasoning of hierarchical relations in different contexts. Data for:Strong Electronic Interaction in Dual‐Cation‐Incorporated NiSe2 Nanosheets with Lattice Distortion for Highly Efficient Overall Water Splitting
Exploring highly efficient and low‐cost electrocatalysts for electrochemical water splitting is of importance for the conversion of intermediate energy. Herein, the synthesis of dual‐cation (Fe, Co)‐incorporated NiSe2 nanosheets (Fe, Co‐NiSe2) and systematical investigation of their electrocatalytic performance for water splitting as a function of the composition are reported. The dual‐cation incorporation can distort the lattice and induce stronger electronic interaction, leading to increased active site exposure and optimized adsorption energy of reaction intermediates compared to single‐cation‐doped or pure NiSe2. As a result, the obtained Fe0.09Co0.13‐NiSe2 porous nanosheet electrode shows an optimized catalytic activity with a low overpotential of 251 mV for oxygen evolution reaction and 92 mV for hydrogen evolution reaction (both at 10 mA cm−2 in 1 m KOH). When used as bifunctional electrodes for overall water splitting, the current density of 10 mA cm−2 is achieved at a low cell voltage of 1.52 V. This work highlights the importance of dual‐cation doping in enhancing the electrocatalyst performance of transition metal dichalcogenides.

Numerical Study of Wall Ventilation in a Transonic Wind Tunnel
ABSTRACT: Transonic wind tunnels (TWT) are sophisticated tools for the investigations of flows with Mach numbers of order one. The most characteristic feature of a facility such as this is, for sure, the openings in the walls of the test section. The openings in the walls permit the proper relief effect, and this, on the other hand, makes possible the experimentation at the transonic range. The results to be presented in this paper correspond to an analysis of the flow in the test section of a TWT containing a NACA 0012 airfoil. Both numerical and experimental investigations were conducted. For the numerical investigation, a three-dimensional, finite-difference code, based on the diagonal algorithm, was employed, whereas for the experimentation, the classical static-pressure taps as well as the pressure sensitive paint (PSP) techniques were used. The classical static-pressure tap method is indicated as PSI technique. The pressure distributions were investigated for Mach numbers in the range of 0.6 - 0.8 and angles of attack from 0º up to 8º. The relief effect due to the slots, which provides for avoiding choking effects, is clearly demonstrated when one compares the flow along both solid and perforated walls. In the first part of this research report, the main focus will be on the numerical results. Notwithstanding this, and for comparison purposes, some experimental results will be called upon here, together with some literature data.

Data from: Energetic constraint of non-monotonic mass change during offspring growth: a general hypothesis and application of a new tool
1. Postnatal growth is an important life-history trait and can be a sensitive indicator of ecological stress. For over 50 years, monotonic (never-decreasing) growth has been viewed as the predominant trajectory of postnatal mass change in most animal species, notably among birds. However, prevailing analytical approaches and energetic constraints may limit detection of non-monotonic (or multi-phasic), determinate growth patterns, such as mass recession in birds (weight-loss prior to fledging, preceded by overshooting adult mass), which is currently believed to be restricted to few taxa. 2. Energetic surplus and shortfall are widespread conditions that can directly influence the degree of mass overshooting and recession. Thus, we hypothesize that in many species prevailing energetic constraints force mass change away from a fundamental non-monotonic trajectory to instead follow a monotonic curve. 3. We observed highly non-monotonic, mass change trajectories (overshooting adult mass by up to almost 20%) among common tern Sterna hirundo chicks, a well-studied species long-established as growing monotonically. We quantified the prevalence and magnitude of non-monotonic mass change prior to fledging for 313 common tern chicks that successfully fledged from two discrete populations in multiple years. We used a new approach for analysing non-monotonic curves to examine differences in mass change trajectories between populations under contrasting abiotic (freshwater versus saltwater) and biotic stresses (low rates of food provisioning). 4. Some degree of mass recession occurred in 73% of all study chicks. Overshooting adult mass followed by extensive mass recession was most prevalent at our freshwater colony, being detected among 34 - 38% of chicks annually. Non-monotonic trajectories were less marked in populations experiencing ecological stress and among lower quality individuals. Chicks that were provisioned at higher rates were more likely to both overshoot adult mass and experience subsequent mass recession. 5. Our results provide strong support in common terns for the hypothesis that non-monotonic trajectories are the fundamental pattern of mass change but are constrained to be monotonic under energetic shortfall. This justifies future tests of the generality of this hypothesis across a broad range of taxa. We also demonstrate a recent analytical tool that prevents routine fitting of monotonic curves without prior investigation of non-monotonic trends.

Monastery of St. John Lampadistis, Ayios Ioannis Lambadhistis Monastery
[Text Description:] Complex of 3 churches under one Roof, 11th-18th c. ❧ [Medium:] Stone ❧ [Script Note:] Greek, Non-Text ❧ [Physical Object Description:] Located on east side of stream Setrachos, running along east side of village of Kaopanayiotes. The monastery is a complex of three churches sharing a single pitched roof. Beyond the monastic enclosure is the old schoolhouse, now an icon museum. ❧ [Physical Object Note:] The three churches are: Agios Herakleidios, Ioannis Lampadistis and a Latin Chapel. Agios Herakleidios, built in the 11th c., decorated primarily in 13th c., is a cross-in-square building with four piers supporting a central dome. Ioannis Lamadistis probably built in 1731, on the north side of Herakleidios. No records exist regarding the Latin Chapel. It opens on the north side of the Lampdistis church. A narthex runs along the west side of Herakleidios and Lampadistis. ❧ [Physical Object Note:] In Agios Herakleidios, a few early paintings date to the 12th c. Most of the paintings are 13th c., with a late period series done around 1400. Ioannis Lampadistis contains a reliquary and icon of St. Ioannis (John) Lampadistis. The paintings in the Latin Chapel are Italo-Byzantine; the vaulting is Italianate. The walls north and south are illustrations of the 24 stanzas of the Akathistos Hymn to the Virgin. Some paintings are more Byzantine, others more Italian. ❧

Data from: Variation in parent-offspring kinship in socially monogamous systems with extra-pair reproduction and inbreeding
Female extra-pair reproduction in socially monogamous systems is predicted to cause cuckolded socially-paired males to conditionally reduce paternal care, causing selection against extra-pair reproduction and underlying polyandry. However, existing models and empirical studies have not explicitly considered that cuckolded males might be related to their socially-paired female and/or to her extra-pair mate, and therefore be related to extra-pair offspring that they did not sire but could rear. Selection against paternal care, and hence against extra-pair reproduction, might then be weakened. We derive metrics that quantify allele-sharing between within-pair and extra-pair offspring and their mother and her socially-paired male in terms of coefficients of kinship and inbreeding. We use song sparrow (Melospiza melodia) paternity and pedigree data to quantify these metrics, and thereby quantify the joint effects of extra-pair reproduction and inbreeding on a brood's total allelic value to its socially-paired parents. Cuckolded male song sparrows were almost always detectably related to extra-pair offspring they reared. Consequently, although brood allelic value decreased substantially following female extra-pair reproduction, this decrease was reduced by within-pair and extra-pair reproduction among relatives. Such complex variation in kinship within nuclear families should be incorporated into models considering co-evolutionary dynamics of extra-pair reproduction, parental care and inbreeding.
