Constructing Constructing and manufacturing of 3D model of hardwood minute structure ABSTRACT In the present paper,the anatomical strueture of 1 0 hardwood species was examined firstly under microscope.Then according to the gained results,SEM samples were cut from dae 1 0 wood species at the locations with distinct structural features.With these samples, SEM investigatiom were carried out,and a large number of SEM—graphs of wood structure were acquired.After a thorough analysis on the SEM-graphs,the minute and ultra-minute structural features of the 1 0 wood species were obtained.Based on this,rmdel constructing was conducted with 3Ds max modeling technology for hardwood minute strueture in three steps.In the first step,the single—cell models were buiR according to the true form and shape of various kinds of cells,including vessel elements,wood—fiber cells,bngitudinal paremhyma cells and ray cells.In the second step,the single-tissue models for all the four kinds of wood tissues(vessel,wood-flaer,longitudinal parenchyma and wood ray)were comtrueted by setting the same kind of single-cell models together according to the cell grouping ways inside true wood.In the third step,according to the distributing and arranging ways of the four kinds of wood tissues inside true wood,the whole model of wood block in minute structure WaS constructed by assembling the four kind of single-tissue models in bbck.Alter that,the vhtml model in computer was rmterialized by means of modern 3D printing technology,and finally the solid model in minute structure of Ficus microcarpa wood was constructed.Such solid model of wood in minute structure could be expected to play important roles in popuhrization of wood knowledge,deep-going research of wood struettme and development and utilization of wood aesthetical value.
