而在实际场景中，为了营造更为切合实际场景的花艺设计，并兼具独特性与格调，架构类设计在材料的使用上从不畏手畏脚，并在此基础上大刀阔斧的做一些创造。我们能从今天使用的藤芯、麦秆、铝丝等材料中瞧见端倪。

而对于鲜切花材，Benjamin一直遵循着一个原则，即：用最普通的花材去创造最佳的效果——在平凡中创造惊艳的效果。
他在回忆之前为斯德哥尔摩的希尔顿酒店做花艺时，酒店经理很反感使用菊花做装饰，认为它低端不显档次。然而Benjamin却不以为这么想，他决定用菊花做出众所瞩目的设计，并最终用一款平行雕塑式的以菊花为主花材的设计赢得了包括酒店经理在内所有人的青睐。

最后酒店经理对Benjamin说：在这家希尔顿酒店，你可以使用任何花材，因为我知道你能把平凡的变得不平凡！
