From the cold resistance of Lagerstroemia indica， this paper summarizes the significance of the cold resistance research， research progress and breeding research of the cold resistance， and cold-resistant assessment method of Lagerstroemia indica. The cold-resistance molecular and breeding research of Lagerstroemia indica need to be strengthened， they will serve as the research focus. Key words： Lagerstroemia indica； cold resistance； cold-resistance breeding 紫薇（Lagerstroemia indica L.），千屈菜科紫薇属，落叶小乔木或灌木。树干光洁古朴，树皮平滑呈块状剥落，枝多扭曲[1]。花瓣皱缩，有白、粉、红、紫等色，花期6―9月，长达3个月，故又名“百日红”[2]。紫薇花期长，花色多，在少花的夏季可作为主要的景观植物，具有极高的观赏价值。 1 紫薇抗寒研究的重要意义 紫薇原产中国，主产西南部至东部，华北各地也有栽培，最北至河北、吉林等省[3]。紫薇栽培历史悠久，唐宋时期就受到重视，作为皇家园林植物遍栽于皇宫、官邸[4]。目前，中国广东、浙江、河北、北京、山东、陕西及吉林等19省市均有生长或栽培，而浙江省海宁市、山东省泰安市、山东省烟台市、四川自贡市、湖北省襄阳市等10个市将紫薇作为市花。国外，以日本、朝鲜栽培较多，由亚洲引种至美国等欧美地区[5]。 紫薇从古至今都被作为重要的观赏树种，受到人们的重视，其应用形式多样：可修剪成乔木型，于庭院门口对植，路旁列植，或孤植；也可以修剪成灌木状，用于丛植赏花。但因我国地域广阔，气候多样，南北气温上的差异较大，紫薇在我国北方地区容易受到低温影响，发生冻害，造成部分枝干甚至整株死亡，限制了其在园林景观中的应用和推广。低温已经成为了限制紫薇在北方园林应用的主要因素。为了提高紫薇在北方寒冷地区的适应能力，进一步扩大其在北方园林中的应用范围
